Towards the end of 1998, Telefonica Romania was acquired by R.D.T.,
a group of international investors, with a vision of working towards
reviving the sagging N.M.T business with innovative communication
solutions, and positioning the company for a digital future. The
company, now called Telemobil, re-launched its commercial services
with a new brand 'SunTel' in mid 1999 offering a new service based
on a "Low Emission Mobile System" (LEMS).
In early 2000, R.D.T., the main shareholder of the company, decided
to integrate itself with Inquam, launching a new telecommunication
service, Zapp, using CDMA2000 technology.
